BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Bayan in session, that:
ARTICLE I – GENERAL PROVISIONS
SECTION 1. TITLE
This ordinance shall be known as “An ordinance providing for high quality delivery care for pregnant women and newborn babies, regulating the practice of traditional birth attendants in the Municipality of Burauen, mandating birth in clinics and birthing/Basic Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care (BEmONC) facilities”;
SECTION 2. DECLARATION OF POLICIES
It is hereby declared to be the policy of the Municipality of Burauen to implement a comprehensive and integrated maternity care and child health clinic in our Municipality to:
a) Provide high quality delivery care for pregnant women and newborn babies;
b) Reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates;
c) Give moral, social and technical support services during and after delivery as well as to the family of the pregnant mother and encourage community involvement in the development and maintenance of the maternity clinic.
